He Has Arrived

With a giant grin nearly swallowing my face, I am happy to report baby Mason has made his arrival into this world. He weighed in at 8lbs 14oz and is 21" long.

Yesterday was a very lengthy and arduous day for both Tasha and baby Mason. After much pushing, encouraging, and almost unbearable pain the decision was made to perform a cesarean section to "go in and get him out" as the nurses described. If you have ever seen Tash then you know that a hefty sized baby would never make it out of her tiny frame without professional help. The overall experience for dear Tash was not a pleasant one by any means. The spinal did not work correctly therefore she had to be completely put under for the procedure - meaning she did not get to witness the birth of her first born. Despite the harsh emotions that may or may not come along with that, I was relieved to know that she was not in such incredible pain anymore. For a while I was really frightened by the situation. I could not bear to see her hurting so badly and not be able to help in any way. Although the day was long and the laboring was rough, it was all worth it in the end.

The experience for me was like no other. I am thankful to have spent such a special day with someone I care so much for. It all is so surreal that just shy a month and 3 days of a year, I was in the same hospital, in the same pain, waiting for the same life changing miracle to happen. Witnessing all I did really brought back the vivid memories of Tristyn's birth. The miracle of life is truly amazing.

Congratulations to my dear friend.
