Successful Surgery!

The pretty princess made it through surgery just fine. We were scheduled for a 9:30am surgery so we had to arrive at the Children's Hospital outpatient center at 7am but we were quite late due to Atl traffic! We registered and then were sent back to a pre-op room where they asked a few questions and told us how things were going to proceed. Tris played for a while (more like 2 hours!) while Josh and I fought over the Spongebob video game. My Mom and Josh's were both there to keep the little ones entertained. Once the surgeon was ready for Tristyn they put Josh into a gown and paper hat and had him escort Tris to the OR. The grandmothers were a wreck, I on the other hand help up pretty well because I did not let myself think about what was actually happening. I had to fight back the thoughts and mental images of what my baby girl was going through, it all seemed so surreal. Josh returned to the room 2 minutes later with tears welling in his eyes. It broke his heart to watch his innocent little girl look so frightened laying there unknowing of what was in store. We all had a moment and then Josh and I were taken to the post-op room to wait for her to come out of surgery. We expected to wait a while but luckily she was out in a matter of 20 minutes. All of the other children coming out of the OR were wheeled in beds to their recovery rooms so we both had our eyes on the hallway watching for the next bed to roll past hoping it was our princess...but in walked a nurse with a shaken and overly frightened baby girl. Tristyn clung to the nurse like there was no tomorrow and that broke my heart even more. She went to Daddy first and battled him to rip out her IV. She then wanted Mommy and for the next several minutes went back and forth between the pair of us. Her swollen face was red and her eyes were puffy from crying. She was shaking and scared. This was by far the roughest part of the day. Each Grandmother came in for a brief moment to check on her and then left to tend to Jackson. I rocked her until she fell asleep and 45 minutes later we were discharged. Nearly as soon as she was in her car seat she began acting normal and never looked back! She thought eating popsicles and jell-o for breakfast, lunch and dinner was the coolest thing. She downed many bowls of cheesy scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes. Up until today, a week after her surgery, she is begging for popsicles and potatoes! She is ruined! Her follow up appointment with the ENT is not for a month, we will find out then how things are looking. For now her speech has already improved and her hearing is significantly greater. She's a new little girl!

In other news....we have a crawling baby boy on the loose! He had been army crawling for a while and then last week got the coordination down and has since been all over the place. He is content doing his own thing and doesn't ever follow me around unless he is tired. He loves to play in his room and finds it hysterical when we're in the shower and he can crawl to the bathroom and check on whoever is in there. He has been going to the bottom stair and standing up on his own the past couple of days. He has even learned to clap and give kisses. He is just taking in the world! He loves to babble and blow raspberries, Tristyn still hasn't learned how to do that...I do not think she is coordinated enough (she gets that from her mother!). Our little baby is slowly becoming a boy.

I am sure I have missed a million things I wanted to write down but it is late and seeing as how the past week I haven't gotten any rest (thanks Jackson!) I am going to close up for now. I will update again next week.

Oh Taylor, I haven't checked on you forever! I am so sorry to hear that she had to have surgery!! That must have been so hard for you guys. It seems like it is for the best though! I hope that all gets better soon! Jackson is soooo cute. I cannot believe how much he has grown. And he has teeth!! Owen doesn't even have teeth yet!! LUCKY! :)

I'm glad everything went smoothly with the surgery. Kids rebound so quickly, but it never makes it any easier on anyone!!

Your kids are so adorable!!! Jackson is getting so big!! I can't believe he is crawling. Time is flying by way too fast.

Hey Taylor! How are ya? You asked about the Robeez booties my mom got for Alex - we got him a size 12-18 months & bought them at the mall (a new baby boutique that just opened.) At robeez.com they're $38.95 plus shipping (my mom paid $36 at the mall.) Last month my mom got him the Robeez Trainers in royal blue. I just love Robeez! Gabrielle had a few pairs when she was younger too.

Okay, girl, it's been over a month since your last update - I want to know what those kiddies have been up too! Hee hee!
