Sleep Issues

I was completely mislead by thinking Jackson had given up on the fight to sleep in his crib. The saga continues! After over a year of sleeping in his crib, falling asleep on his own, and enjoying his time in his room he has decided that he is completely terrified of staying in his crib. I do not know if it is because he does not want to be alone and is having anxiety about that, or if it's that he just doesn't want to sleep in a crib any longer. I am scared to death that he's going to make a jump for it again and end up in a cast.

Last night we did our normal routine and I put him in his crib. Immediately he stood up, grabbing his pillow, blanket, cup and dog (this is a ritual in the rebellion!) and trying to get all of his "goodies" out of his crib so that he can make a run for it. I let him cry for about 15 minutes to no avail. I watched and listened to him on the video monitor and recognized that he kept mumbling about his pillow so I went in there and changed the pillow case from a leopard print (from sissy's room, haha) to his normal sage and blue striped sham. I know this may sound trivial but at this point I was willing to give anything a shot. I had thought for just a minute that that was the problem. He immediately retreated to his pillow, drank his cup, and acted like he was going to sleep. Not a chance in hell that was happening. Ugh, here we go again I thought. Another 2 hours of fighting him to stay in his bed.

I finally gave up because I had been in an irritable mood all day and just wanted some time to myself. I took him from his crib and brought him into the guest room where he immediately made himself comfortable and after drinking the remainder of his cup (yes, I realize I need to eliminate that!) he happily drifted off into la-la-land. He slept there for the rest of the night, alone, until Daddy crawled in bed with him at some point early this morning (I think he just missed his baby).

So....now the question is, what do I do? Try to move him into a toddler bed, which we have. Or go ahead and move him into a full size bed? I would really prefer him to stay in a toddler bed so we have our guest room available for a while longer. However, I am unsure of how to get him to sleep in the toddler bed. I guess there will be some sleeping changes around our household over the next few days. I just have to figure out what they will be!
