After being gone last weekend, this week we tried to get back into the swing of normalcy. Josh worked a lot, as he began working back at the NW facility a few weeks ago. His hours were supposed to consist of a somewhat normal 9-5 schedule, but we have yet to see a day of that. He has literally worked himself sick. The poor man has been so tired that he has come down with a cold, which is rare for him. Although he recently started a four day work week, it seems as though we seem him less than before. He is now off on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. He has school on Wednesday, so during his time off during the day he normally catches up on schoolwork before he has to leave around 4pm for school. He has done very well in his classes so far, he has already completed two. His last class was a speech class and he did very well. He has a group that he works with on projects regularly, they seem to work great together. Hopefully the next 18-20 months will go by as quickly as the past two have. Before we know it he will be finished with college. Our family is definitely proud of our hard working college student =)
This past Friday Josh had to work because he switched days off the previous weekend to be able to attend Brad's bachelor party/weekend. Friday the kids and I loaded up and went to the farm for the evening. We had not planned on staying the night, but once Tris knew we were heading to see Di-Di, Mar & Glenn T. she packed a suitcase for her and Jackson. She tried rather hard, but packed only winter clothes ;) I had to repack their things in case we did decide to stay the night. We got there around 5pm and Lamarr and I headed over to Rick and Melanie's to pickup the arbor for Brad and Alea's wedding. Glenn and Lamarr offered to rebuild the arbor Tasha and I purchased from craigslist. It needed a little TLC and Lamarr is the man for the job. After dropping the arbor back off at the farm, I drove over to Alea's to drop off some wedding stuff I had of hers. I stayed for a few hours and caught up with the two of them. It was a nice little get together. Once I returned to the farm we were all tired and decided to head home to get some much needed rest. Saturday morning we all stayed in bed for a while and caught up on some snuggling. We then had a little lunch at Applebee's, ran a few errands and headed back to the house. Josh began to feel sick and decided he needed a nap, which Jackson partook in. Tris and I headed out to find something to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon. We ended up at Wally-World to gather materials for a cookie baking session. Once we returned home Josh and I prepared a great meal of steak on the grill, cobbed corn and rosemary roasted red potatoes. The dinner was great but I began to feel ill myself and we all decided to hit the hay around 8:15pm. Sunday morning we were supposed to meet some friends at church, as we had hoped to get back into the routine of going...but with mommy and daddy not feeling so hot, we postponed yet again. For some reason it always feels like something gets in our way of going. We just need to suck it up and go, which we plan on doing this Sunday. Josh headed off to work even though he felt rough. Mimi and I met so she could take Tris and Alexa to a family birthday party while Jackson and I came home to help plant our first garden with Mom & Glenn. We worked all afternoon on tilling the land and removing about a thousand rocks, bricks and pieces of debris. Jackson helped with raking and removing the rocks. He really enjoyed throwing rocks into the woods at the "snake" that was out there hiding ;) We ended up planting red tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, squash, red bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, purple onions and watermelon. We are all looking forward to watching our garden grow and enjoying the fruit of our labor. After the hard work I cooked homemade olive burgers on the grill, which was my first solo grilling experience as Josh was at work. I must boast a little, as I did a very good job managing the grill myself =) I will definitely partake in grilling more often, I really enjoyed it. Josh came home just in time for dinner and then we all settled in for the evening.
This upcoming week we do not have much planned. Hopefully we will get more time together as a family, but that does not look promising as it is already 8pm and Josh is still not home from a very long days work...so much for another family dinner. I got both kids in bed and asleep by 7:15 - so now I am having a little quiet time before embarking on my household duties. Hopefully I will accomplish a good bit without having my two tornadoes on my heels =)
