Tristyn

This past Monday I took Tristyn to an ENT appointment because we have recently become concerned with her lack of hearing. At age two she had tubes put in due to chronic ear infections and shortly after her speech improved greatly. This past March she had her tonsils removed, while she was under they cleaned out a bunch of hardened wax that had obstructed her hearing once again. Her hearing returned to normal once more. Without any recent ear infections or issues we have not seen the Pediatrician, until I took her in for complaint of headaches. The Ped said she had some fluid in her ear, which could cause the headaches, prescribed her Amoxicillin and sent us on our way. We went back for a two week recheck and she said she looked fine, this was a month ago, right around Thanksgiving. Fed up with the constant "HUH?" and "what did you say? I didn't hear you!" I decided to call to ENT and schedule an appointment. They got us in rather quickly due to my concern. On Monday we saw the Audiologist who performed a Tympanogram to test how well noise flows through the ear canal, hers was completely flat, meaning not at all. She then performed a hearing test to which the results were not grand by any means. She was quite surprised by how bad the state of Tris' hearing was. We are scheduled to have another set of tubes inserted on January 27th! We are not looking forward to her going through another surgery (#3!) but it will be well worth it. It has been obvious that her learning has been affected during the past several months, as well as her attitude and behavior. The ENT also scheduled a consultation with a sleep specialist to see about performing a sleep study due to her constant fatigue, under eye circles and snoring. That appointment is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19th.

We are anxious to have our baby girl feeling the best possible. Hopefully after all of this she will be better than new.

Oh, no! I hate to hear about another surgery. Sounds like it is much needed and I'm sure she will be a trooper like she has been for the last 2. Thoughts and prayers are with you guys!
